Oh I'm just so excited! Tomorrow I leave for a workshop in San Diego and I get to meet a photographer whose work I have admired for a very long time! His name is Robert Alvarado and I can't believe I'm going to learn his lighting techniques and post processing work.
And to make things even sweeter, my hubby is coming along so we can spend some time sightseeing and enjoying the coast. Life is good....

Salon Valin

A few weeks ago I was hired by Downtown Laura Brown, the owner of Salon Valin to take "Pin-Up" pictures of her and her staff. What a great bunch of girls (and guy) to work with! They all got into it and we had so much fun. Thanks Downtown! I had so much fun and you are a blast!
Here is a link to her salon website. Check them out because they all ROCK! http://www.salonvalin.com/

Portland was AMAZING!
I got back from Portland on Tuesday night and this was by far the best workshop that I have ever attended!! I can't wait to put into action all the new stuff I learned this weekend during my 1st "pinup" photo shoot.
I made some great friends and each of them were so giving of their time and knowledge. Stay tuned and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post a few pictures that I took while visiting Portland.

Why aren't there any pictures on this site?
It was brought to my attention that some people were surprised not to see any pictures on my "Pin-Up" site, so I thought I should explain.
I am in the process of learning a very cool photography technique and that is why I am calling for models right now. I will post pictures when they become available and I think I've perfected my work flow.
I will be going to Portland in March to learn from two amazing pin-up photographers. For two days they will be teaching their techniques and Photoshop secrets. The very next weekend I will have my first photo session and put into action what I've learned. Just like anything else, practice will make perfection.
My goal is to make my Pin-Up work original pieces of artwork. I'm learning Photoshop and Painter techniques that will make my pieces look more like painting than photographs.
If you would like to see where I want to take my photography/art, please see the links to two of my favorite photographers whose artwork I admire, follow and hope to mimic.
First there is Iman Woods http://www.imanwoods.com She is an AMAZING photographer and I love her work. Please visit her website and you will see why I love her work so much. I love the classic beauty she captures and if any one's pin-up work has inspired me, no one more than this talented young woman.
Then for the more "naughty" in me, there is Robert Alvarado. http://robertalvarado.net/gallery.html
He has also perfected the photography/art technique that I'm working on. I love his work!
So I hope this clears up why I don't have any photos on this blog yet. I'm a work in progress and I can't wait for you to see where Hope to Capture Photography will go next!

Welcome to my new Pin-Up Blog
This is my first of what will be many, many posts. I LOVE all things vintage and when I found a way to incorporate my love of photography and vintage art, well along came PIN-UPS!
I will be hosting my very first official pin-up photography session on March 28th. Right now I am still looking for women who are interested in becoming a pin-up for the day.
For a limited time only I will be offering Pin-Up Photo Sessions for a very low price of $195. This will cover your hair and make-up by a professional as I will be waiving my photography fee in return for your modeling services. About 2-4 weeks after your session I will have your pictures posted in a private on-line proofing gallery with your own password. After you have chosen the 5 poses/pictures you want, I will then work my magic and make your photos into a piece of art. The "polished" photos will be posted on my official website and you'll receive the full resolution pictures on CD with reprint rights.
This is only for a limited time, once I have enough girls I will close this offer and my prices will go up.
So come on ladies! Let's get that pin-up girl out of you!!
